Since Sierra was 2 years old her love of dance has been a huge part of her life. Growing up with in walking distance of Walker's Dance school Sierra learned to explore all forms of creative movement like Ballet, Tap, Jazz and Modern. In her teens Sierra was asked to join the competitive Dance team for the studio where she helped Walker's take home several medals and trophys. For her part, Sierra earned special judges awards for her emotional commitment to performance as well as recognition of her tapping skills.
While attending Lowell High School, Sierra was able to take daily dance classes under Gail Rhodes. In these classes Sierra was given the chance to choreograph her own pieces and work with her fellow students to create ensemble pieces. Using their combined creative effort, Sierra and her classmates performed in a show honoring the Mill Girls of Lowell at the State House in Boston. During her vacations Sierra would trek into Boston for classes being taught legends in the dancing community such as Diane Walker.
Since then Sierra has become a dance instructor, teaching a love of movement to students who range in age from toddlers to senior tappers! Traveling all over the New England area, Sierra has had the opportunity to assist as a modern instructor at Walnut Hill Performing Arts school. She has also taught classes at Dean College for their modern students.
Sierra couldn't be happier doing what she loves everyday and teaching others the art of dance! |
